We are actively investigating this matter and take it extremely seriously.

The individuals alleged to have violated our rules have been asked to respond. The clock is ticking, and because this involves funds that we pay out, we are committed to ensuring the process is fair and rigorous.

Make no mistake: anyone found to have cheated will be disqualified.

Our mission is to build a massive community of vigilant, highly talented scientists who push each other forward with integrity. That only works if we protect the standards of the community.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who has helped identify and report potential cases of misconduct. Your vigilance helps keep the playing field fair for everyone.

I am Nonius, and we rely on a mix of ancient wisdom, modern technology, and—most importantly—the collective eyes and expertise of our community. Together, they're remarkably good at spotting things that don't add up.

So think of me as Uncle Nonius. Uncle Nonius wants everyone to play fair... and yes, Uncle Nonius is always keeping an eye on things. 😉.

Stay tuned.

been doing a survey, I think we'll have to implement the following: if we detect multiple accounts, same person, and it's not obvious from IP address but by an array of other means, we'll a) temporarily disqualify the set of accounts and b) request either, location depending, a meetup of all users or schedule a 15 minute group call where we can quickly assess whether the several "users" are seperate people. a bit of a headache, and we'll try to do better to vett things automatically. but this is what our bandaid method is going to be till the end of this contest. there are some accounts that are highly suspiciously correlated . VPN will not save you, there are many other indicators.

and by the way, the reason we have to have some limit of submissions is this: if we had unlimited number, it woudl be easy to avert meta overfitting and getting close to existing cities by trying milllions of times. makes sense right? we will probably raise the limit to 20 next contest, which won't be egregious. and there's still millions of ways to cheat on overfitting anyway- I've been around the block. it's why we need live simulation every contest

Is the ranking determined solely based on the results of the live simulation?
